BULL CREEK FISH CAMP IS COMING BACK

🐟 BULL CREEK FISH CAMP IS COMING BACK 🐟
Drove out to Dead Lake this week and got a look myself. The building is UP.
Two years ago there was nothing here. Ian and Nicole put water in the old fish camp and it sat for a month. County called it a total loss and tore it down. Folks out here figured that was the end of it.
It wasn't.
📍 WHAT'S BUILT
• Roughly 5,000 sq ft, brand new
• 2,500 sq ft indoor dining
• 850 sq ft screened porch looking straight out over Dead Lake
• Sitting on several feet of FILL. Raised on purpose.
• 6-inch slab, double rebar
They didn't rebuild what was there. They rebuilt it so the lake can't do it again.
💵 THE $500 PART
The state put about $1.5 million into this rebuild and is leasing it out for five hundred bucks a month. Plus common-area maintenance and utilities. Five-year term with two renewal options.
In 2014 the county charged a thousand. They cut it in half on purpose. It's remote, it's seasonal, and the new operators are building a customer base from zero out here. The county would rather see them make it than squeeze them out.
👨‍🍳 WHO'S RUNNING IT
Jessica Norton-Henry and the mother-son team of Pamela White and Joshua White. West Flagler folks. Local.
The plan is southern-style food aimed at farmers and fishermen. Which is exactly what people out here asked for at the town hall. Breakfast. Southern cooking. Some low-cost options. They asked, and that's what's going in.
🚪 Doors open in a couple of months.
🏘 WHY I CARE
West Flagler doesn't get a lot of this. When your closest sit-down spot is 12 miles away in Bunnell, a restaurant isn't just a restaurant. It's an amenity. It's a reason to drive out here. It's a thing buyers ask about.
And that porch faces west over the water. Best sunset seat in Flagler County, and hardly anybody knows it yet.
Bull Creek's been part of this county's story since the steamboat days. It's not done
